USPA NEWS - Franck Riester, Minister of Culture, welcomes the appointment of Klaus Mäkelä to the musical direction of the Paris Orchestra. "The arrival of Klaus Mäkelä is an opportunity, a symbol, a promise for the Paris Orchestra and its influence in Europe and in the world", Franck Riester, Minister of Culture. Klaus Mäkelä has become, at just 24 years of age, a key figure of conductors and one of the most promising and talented of his generation. Music director of the Oslo Philharmonic Orchestra for the 2020-2021 season, Klaus Mäkelä distinguished himself as first guest conductor of the Swedish Radio Symphony Orchestra and as associate artist of the Tapiola Sinfonietta. Its international successes have resulted in collaborations with the London Philharmonic Orchestra, the Frankfurt Radio Orchestra and the direction of the Cleveland Orchestra.

His debut in Paris, first at the Paris Orchestra in June 2019 and then at the Radio France Philharmonic Orchestra in March 2020, were unanimously welcomed. --------------------------------------------------------------------Anxious to translate into action the integration of the orchestra within the Philharmonie, Klaus Mäkelä will pursue the development strategy of the Orchester de Paris in its international tours as in its partnerships with the Festival d'Aix-en-Provence in particular .
